THE ETERNAL IMPORTANCE OF AYURVEDA |
It is an often repeated question. How is Ayurveda - the ancient
system of medicine of the vedic age relevant today in this
age of high tech advancements? It is a fact that among all
methods of treatment, Ayurveda stand out as the most significant
one. Highly advanced countries like America and Japan are getting
more and more interested in Ayurveda. A lot of research work
is going on in Japan regarding the use of 'bhasmas' used in
Ayurveda. They have published their findings in medical journals
about the efficacy of the 'bhasmas' prepared from metals like
mercury and how these medicines, lif properly used can be effective
and without any side effects. Isn't it unfortunate then, that
in our own country there is a systematic propaganda going on
that the Ayurvedic treatment using heavy metallic 'bhasmas'
is damaging the kidneys ?.
An interesting incident happened recently. A lady, aged 45,
whose brother is an orthopedic surgeon was suffering from back
pain for the past several years. It was diagnosed as a degenerates
problem for which there was no remedy. This patient was brought
to me and believe it or not, she was relieved of her back pain
within thirty days. Towards the end of the thirty day period
I had a frantic call from them to say that my medicine has
cause ulcers in her mouth. On enquiry I was told that the ulcer
appeared that day while the medicine being taken for the past
thirty days had he refused to get himself admitted there for
treatment and consulted a leading neurophysician in Mangalore.
He prescribed medicines for two weeks and when there was no
relief, advised surgery. At this juncture, on the suggestion
of his well wishers, he came to me. I examined him, saw his
reports and give him medicines for fifteen days. As there was
considerable improvement, I continued the treatment for thirty
more days and the result was extremely satisfactory. I am curios
to know what the scanning report would reveal now. But how
could the poor patient afford to have frequent scanning done
? Isn't it the good fortune of patients that they can benefit
from the so-called 'unscientific' system of medicine when the
scientific Allopathic system cannot help?
Ayurveda in India as a medicine science has got enormous importance
along with yoga. South Indian states of Tamil nadu, Kerala
and Karnataka have large number of ayurveda centers, spas,
and schools.
Ayurveda treatment with our doctors is effective, authentic
and affordable. We can offer general ayurveda packages. Srilanka
too has some good presence in ayurveda.
